Budding young musicians from local primary schools came together at Pound Arts in Corsham last week for a lively Celebration Workshop organised by the Corsham Windband Association (CWA).
The event, held during the school holidays, brought together 50 players aged 6 to 11 from the Association’s Beginners Group, featuring brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. The workshop was funded by Wiltshire Symphony Concert Fund (WSCF) through the Wiltshire Music Connect legacy fund.
Led by Sonia Blandford, Simon Carr and Joanne Knight, and supported by CWA Youth Concert Band members Kelly Meakin, Bethany Eldridge, Anna and Eddie Durrant, Lorna and Finian Stankey and Felix Jobling, the young musicians rehearsed and performed a spirited programme for parents and friends.
Their concert included well-known tunes such as Ode to Joy, Frère Jacques, Ceremonial March, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mozart Variations and a Caribbean Medley, showcasing both enthusiasm and growing musical skill.
Based at Pound Arts, Corsham Windband Association works with primary schools throughout the year, helping children learn instruments and experience the joy of making music together.
