If you are a former member of the Corsham Windband Association, then why not join the CWA Alumni Community and keep up to date with the CWAs activities? Whether you’re a recent member or were involved back in the early years – you are very welcome.

We will then keep you up to date with our activities and upcoming concerts through regular newsletters.

We are also looking for former members willing to write a short testimonial ("where are they now?") for this Alumni page.

If you would like to give back, you can participate in many ways: support financially, help out at band practices and concerts, give lessons ...

BASSOON 1981 - 1986

Sonia is a truly inspirational woman. She literally built the Corsham School Wind Band, and as it was known then, from scratch. The fact that I became a member after having played a bassoon for only 2 days is perfect example. Perhaps the biggest achievement of all was that it became the ‘in thing’ to be a member. It became cool to play a musical instrument and the other kids in school truly respected it. I loved the rehearsals, the trips around the various fetes in the summer, the trips to Jargeau, playing in the National Schools band finals in London. It was enormous fun. To see how it has evolved, and the ethos of being ‘all inclusive’, music for all, whether as a player, helper, supporter or listener, that sense of ‘all being in this together’, is an enormous achievement and true testimony to the wonderful musicianship, humanity and natural leadership of Sonia.

David has been Principal Bassoon player for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra since 2004.

TRUMPET 2007 - 2018

Joining training band at age 7 sparked an incredible musical journey for me — from my first notes on the trumpet to an ABRSM Diploma, first-class music degree from Oxford, and performing today in jazz, Latin and fusion groups across the world. Huge thanks to CWA for the passion and dedication that inspired me and so many others!
