Comprehensive Overview of Corsham Windband Association’s Services

The Corsham Windband Association (CWA) is a well-established charity dedicated to delivering high-quality music education and ensemble opportunities to young musicians in Wiltshire. With a structured service model catering to both schools and individual learners, CWA fosters musical proficiency, collaboration, and performance excellence.

Music Education in Schools

CWA works in partnership with Wiltshire schools to provide a range of music services, from whole-class instrumental tuition to individual and small group lessons. Schools can choose between free (funded) and non-funded options, with CWA managing tuition delivery, timetabling, and administration.

  • Free (funded) Whole-Class and Group Tuition: Schools receive 30 free (fully funded) sessions per year, allowing entire classes or smaller groups to experience instrumental instruction. This programme includes instrument loans, support for musical progression, and performance opportunities.
  • Non-Funded Individual and Small Group Lessons: Schools can opt for tailored tuition, delivered by professional CWA teachers, with flexible billing models. Lessons vary from individual (20–30 minutes) to group sessions (up to 15 students). Schools may choose to subsidise fees for students.
  • Private Instrumental Lessons: Students can enroll in directly billed tuition with CWA, benefiting from structured music learning outside school hours.

Ensembles and Bands

A core component of CWA’s offerings is its band and ensemble programme, which provides students with opportunities to develop ensemble skills and perform publicly. Students can join four distinct wind bands, each tailored to different skill levels. Membership is open to musicians of different abilities, with a £12 monthly fee covering multiple ensembles.

Instrument Loan Scheme

To reduce financial barriers, CWA provides an instrument loan scheme, ensuring students can access instruments free of charge within school-based programmes or at subsidised rates for individual lessons.
