The Corsham Windband Association provides music education, instrumental tuition and ensemble opportunities for children and young musicians across Corsham and Wiltshire. Through school-based lessons, youth wind bands and community performances, we help young people develop musical skills, confidence and creativity in a supportive environment.
Music Education in Schools
The Corsham Windband Association works in partnership with primary schools across Corsham and Wiltshire to provide high-quality music education, instrumental tuition and performance opportunities for children and young musicians. Our flexible music programmes include whole-class instrumental teaching, small-group tuition and individual music lessons, helping pupils develop musical skills, confidence and creativity. CWA manages all aspects of delivery, including teaching, timetabling, administration and musical progression.
Free Whole-Class and Group Instrumental Tuition
Through funded music education programmes, schools can access up to 30 free instrumental tuition sessions each year. These engaging lessons introduce children to brass, woodwind, percussion and string instruments while developing teamwork, listening skills and musical confidence. The programme includes instrument loans, progression support and opportunities to perform in school concerts and community music events.
Individual and Small-Group Music Lessons
Schools can choose additional instrumental tuition delivered by experienced CWA music teachers. Individual lessons and small-group sessions provide personalised learning opportunities for young musicians of all abilities, from complete beginners to more advanced players. Flexible funding and billing options allow schools to tailor music provision to the needs of their pupils, with opportunities for fee subsidies where appropriate.
Private Instrumental Tuition
CWA also offers private instrumental lessons for children and young musicians seeking additional support outside school hours. Our structured music tuition programmes help students develop technique, musical understanding and performance skills while supporting progression into youth wind bands, ensembles and concerts.

Youth Wind Bands and Music Ensembles
The Corsham Windband Association offers a progressive programme of youth wind bands and music ensembles for children and young musicians across Corsham and Wiltshire. Designed to support players at every stage of their musical journey, our ensembles provide opportunities to develop ensemble skills, improve musicianship and gain valuable performance experience.
Members can join one or more of our four wind bands and string ensembles, each tailored to different ages, abilities and levels of musical experience. Regular rehearsals, concerts and community performances help young musicians build confidence, teamwork and a lifelong enjoyment of music. Membership costs just £12 per month, with the first two terms free for new members. Sponsored places are available to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.
Instrument Loan Scheme
We believe that every child should have access to music education. Our instrument loan scheme helps remove financial barriers by providing brass, woodwind, percussion and string instruments free of charge within school-based music programmes and at subsidised rates for individual tuition. This enables more children and young musicians to learn an instrument, join a band and enjoy the benefits of making music as part of an ensemble.
