
Wiltshire’s renowned Corsham Windband Association (CWA) is set to embark on an ambitious tour of Cornwall, offering audiences across the region a unique opportunity to experience the power of live music. Taking place from 7th to 9th April 2025, the tour will feature collaborations with several celebrated Cornish ensembles, including the Cornwall Children’s Choir, Cornwall Youth Choir, St Austell Youth Band, and the Truro Male Choir.
The tour comprises four performances at some of Cornwall’s most iconic venues, including Truro Cathedral, Land’s End, Camborne Wesley Methodist Church, and the Wheal Martyn Clay Works. Each concert will highlight the musical expertise of the Corsham Windband Association under the baton of conductors Sonia Blandford and Simon Carr.
Speaking about the tour, the founder and current President of CWA, Sonia BLANDFORD, said: “This tour is not only a celebration of music but also an incredible opportunity to collaborate with some of Cornwall’s finest musical groups. We are thrilled to bring this unique series of concerts to such stunning locations and share the stage with such talented performers.”
A Packed Itinerary of Musical Highlights
The tour will commence on Monday, 7th April, with a performance at Truro Cathedral at 1pm. The concert will feature a stellar lineup, including the Cornwall Children’s Choir (conducted by Leanne Austin-Smith and Alison Harvey), the St Austell Youth Band (conducted by Anna Minear), and the Truro Male Choir (led by Russell Pascoe).
On Tuesday, 8th April, the association will perform a midday concert from 12 to 2pm at the iconic Land’s End, followed by an evening performance at Camborne Wesley Methodist Church at 7pm. The evening event will include a collaboration with the Cornwall Youth Choir (conducted by Angela Renshaw) and the Truro Male Choir.
The tour will conclude on Wednesday, 9th April, with a lunchtime performance at the Wheal Martyn Clay Works from 1 to 2pm.
A Legacy of Musical Excellence
Founded in 1980 at Corsham School by Sonia Blandford, the Corsham Windband Association has grown into an independent charity with a membership of around 150 young musicians aged between 5 and 24. The group, which operates out of the Pound Arts Centre in Corsham, has trained hundreds of young musicians over its 45-year history and remains committed to fostering musical excellence and community engagement.
Admission to all concerts on the tour is free, with retiring collections held at each venue to support the participating organizations.
