2024 finishes with a packed Christmas concert

The CWA’s musical year 2024 finished in triumph with the traditional packed Christmas concert held at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Corsham on Saturday 21st December. 2024 was a very busy year including its highlight of a week’s tour to Corsham’s twin town Jargeau and nearby Orléans in central France. The bands also gave spring and summer concerts and took part at events such as Corsham Fun Run, Middlewick House Open Garden, a Taste of Corsham, Corsham summer fête, Corsham Street Fair and Corsham Christmas lights switch-on.

This was an exceptional year which even included a public recording session in October at Corsham Town Hall. We are in the process of making these recordings public on the recordings page of this website.

All these events and busking in the centre of Corsham during the Christmas period have enabled the association to raise funds which will be used to further the aims of the CWA, namely the purchase and upkeep of instruments and the provision of lessons and band practices and thus improve the musical education of young people in and around Corsham. Additional funding came from Corsham Town Council, the Late Lord Methuen Fund, ASDA in Melksham and Corsham Fun run. We would to thanks all our sponsors who have supported us in 2024.

This support has enabled CWA to extend now to four bands:

  • Beginners band
  • Training band
  • Spectrum band
  • Youth Concert Band.

The association is now an associate member of Wiltshire Music Connect and offers weekly instrument lessons in the following local schools:

  • Years 4 and 5 – Corsham Regis
  • Years 5 and 6 – Churchfields The Village School, Atworth
  • Years 2 to 6 – Corsham Primary Broadwood Ave.
